How to create an Exception tile and add it to your home page
You can personalize an exception tile and optionally, add it to your home page.
To begin personalizing the dataview and creating a chart, follow these steps:
Personalization the Exception Counts by Employee
- Click Main Menu > Dataviews & reports > Dataview Library.
- On the Dataview Library page under the Other category, click the Exception Counts by Employee.
- In the Dataview, click Select Timeframe to select the time frame that you want to view such as Current Pay Period.
- Click All Home to select a hyperfind for only the employees you want to view.
- If you only want to see employees that have exceptions, add the following filter:
- Click the Refine icon on the far right of the column headings.
- Select Show Filter Row.
- Under the Total Exceptions, select Is Not Null.
- Click the Refine icon again and select Hide Filter Row.
- Click Save.
- At the bottom of the page, click Chart.
- Click Tile Library icon to open the Tile library.
- On the slider next to My Charts, click the Create Chart icon.
- Click a Chart type:

- Vertical Bar
- Horizontal Bar
- Line
- Pie
Recommended setting: Vertical Bar or Horizontal Bar
- Click each item under Select Data to select the data for the chart.
- Select a category, for example, Name, ID, or Location.
Recommended setting: Full Name - Select a metric, for example, Daily Hours or Wage Rate.
Recommended setting: Total Exception Count - The Values Calculation defaults to whatever value is set in the Dataview itself. So, if Avg aggregation is applied to the Accrued Vacation Hours column, Avg appears in this field. You can select another value.
- Select a category, for example, Name, ID, or Location.
Recommend setting: Sum
- Click On under Limit Data? to keep the view to a subset of values in which you are most interested. For example, you can view the top 5 values for the largest amount of vacation time. Use the following settings as delimiters:
- Range - Select the Top or Bottom values to view, for example, the top or bottom five values by hourly rate.
- Number of values - Select the number of values to view.
- If you check Group remaining values as “Other”, all values outside the limit are consolidated and are plotted as one value, labeled “Other.”
Recommend setting: Off
- Set Display Options:

- (Optional) Edit the Title.
- To display the options, set the switch to On. The options are based on the context of the chart. The following options are a sample of what is available to display in the chart:

- Category title
- Metric title
- Category labels
- Data labels - (Pie chart only) Depending on the context of chart, you might select Percent (%), Value, or Both to see these labels in the chart.
- Colors - Select the drop-down arrow to choose from one of four color themes.

Recommend settings: Use defaults
- Click Save.
Note: You can edit or copy a chart by clicking the down arrow in the upper right corner of the chart.
Adding the Total Exception Count by Employee chart to your Home page
- If necessary, return to your Home page, by clicking the Home page icon.
- Click the Gear icon in the upper-right corner to access the Tiles slider.
- Scroll down to the My Charts
- Click on the chart(s), you want to add to your Home page.
- Click Apply.
- If necessary, drag the tile to the location you want.
If you click on the chart, you will be taken to the dataview so you can view additional details like what types of exceptions.
